On Motherhood- The Best Job Ever (May 12, 2019)

It was 5:56 am, on a chilly Spring morning when I first met my son. The moment I laid eyes on my squirmy little guy as he was placed on my belly, I was a complete goner! That moment was the beginning of what has been the most incredible journey of my life.

Being a mom has been a compilation of tiny moments that have taught me so much about love, compassion, patience and the beauty of childhood. Looking at life through the eyes of your child as they learn and grow and discover things for the first time is such an amazing way to experience innocence and wonder,as well as pure, unadulterated joy. Hearing my son’s laughter and excitement as he tried something new or succeeded at something he hadn’t yet mastered was such a joy to watch.

There is nothing like being able to observe the person your child becomes and how that process happens a little bit at a time. It seems like time passes in the blink of an eye and suddenly, this tiny little person who needs you so much, starts to need you a little less. As they start to discover themselves and their personality evolves, and they reach the milestones of childhood, the teenage years and then young adulthood, it’s pretty amazing to be part of.

I am truly grateful that I have been blessed with the privilege of being a mother to an amazing human being. He has taught me so much about myself and I am a much better person for having him in my world.
