The Nitty Gritty About Nerdy Bits

Refined sugar free, vegan options, Celiac/gluten free Bites and no wheat products added are just a few reasons Nerdy Bits have been so popular! I’ve been making and selling Nerdy Bits Protein Bars and Bites for a few months now and I am still amazed by the success that I’ve had with this line of products.

I started making the Chocolate Chia bars for myself as an afternoon snack that helped regulate my hypoglycemia because they aren’t sweetened with refined sugar. The dates and honey that do sweeten them are nicely balanced by protein from real food sources like nuts, seeds and peanut butter.

When I was deciding what to offer when I opened The Artsy Nerd Holistic Relaxation Company, I included Nerdy Bits, thinking they might be a good sideline item because they are healthy and yummy. A great fit for a holistic wellness business but I never expected them to be so popular! They are selling out at a lot of markets and I am excited that they are more in demand all the time.

I’m getting lots of questions about ingredients and calories and general questions about what sets them apart. I thought it would be a good time to devote some blog space to all of that and share the Nitty Gritty About Nerdy Bits!

To start with, here is a list of 10 things about Nerdy Bits:

The reason that there is a separate listing for gluten free and no wheat products added is because technically, all Nerdy Bits are gluten free. Some of them contain oats, which aren’t a wheat product, but the oats I use are not Certified Gluten Free.

If you are Celiac, I recommend the Illuminating Lemon Cranberry, Mind Blowing Mint Chocolate or Great Ideas Gingerbread. The Mint Chocolate and Gingerbread flavors are also Vegan choices. (The Lemon Cranberry does contain honey.)

Nerdy Bits are also dairy and egg free.

I’ve had lots of requests for calorie and carb values per bar/bite too so here is the skinny on all of that: (Note: the Daily Total % is in brackets. All of these values are approximate.)

Cerebral Cranberry Crunch Bites:

  • Calories 297 (14%)
  • Protein 9.06 g (17%)
  • Fats 17.85 g (37%)
  • Carbs 29.31 g (12%)

Great Ideas Gingerbread Bites:

    • Protein 5.77 g (11%)
    • Fats 11.53 g (24%)
    • Carbs 33.19 g (14%)

Thought Provoking Trail Mix Bars:

  • Calories 281 (13%)
  • Protein 6.11 g (11%)
  • Fats 13.93 g (29%)
  • Carbs 36.07 g (15%)

Illuminating Lemon Cranberry Bites

  • Calories 295 (9%)
  • Protein 4.68 g (9%)
  • Fats 13.01 g (27%)
  • Carbs 21 g (9%)

Mind Blowing Mint Chocolate:

  • Carbs 32.74 g (13%)

Contemplative Chocolate Chia Bars:

And that’s that! A healthy, balanced snack option, Nerdy Bits Protein Bars and Bites are available at The Porch Market on Fridays at The Artsy Nerd Holistic Relaxation Company, New Glasgow Farmers Market every Saturday morning, and Tantallon Village Farmers Market every other Tuesday in July and August. I’ll also be at Truro Farmers Market 2 or 3 Saturdays a month. Be sure to follow The Artsy Nerd on Facebook for all the latest info on where to find me and my Nerdy Bits.
